NOTE

There is much speculation amongst Hale genealogists of a family connection between Sir Charles HALES of Thanington and Deacon Robert HALE (see tree below), however I know of no documentary evidence proving this link. Research suggests that Sir Charles was definitely a HALES with an "S". Certainly John Burke's "Genealogical and Heraldic History of Extinct and Dormant Baronetcies of England, Ireland and Scotland" (published 1844) traces Sir Charles' family through to 1824 under the name HALES. The following outline tree of Sir Charles HALES' family has been partly extracted from I.G.I births and baptisms, some of which appear to have been compiled from unproven sources. At this stage I have little documentary evidence to prove the following family outline. This tree is intended as a guide only, and has not been independently verified. Further research is required to produce an accurate family tree.
